Your Own Domain

We charge only $18 a month to provide you with a web site with your own domain hosted on a dedicated server. The set up fee is $79.

You also need a domain name (a web site address such as johnadams.com). Domain names are regulated and overseen by ICANN, the organization that is responsible for certifying companies as domain name registrars. These companies charge a yearly fee for domain name registration. We can register a domain name for you for $15 and we will also set up the name servers for you. Or, you can register your own domain name from any of the domain name registrars. We recommend GoDaddy.com because it's inexpensive. It only costs $9 and some change to register your domain name with GoDaddy (of course, it will try to sell you all kinds of things, so be careful when you go through its wizard).

If you register your own domain name, you will need to change the name servers so that they point to our web server. Your domain name registrar should have instructions on its web site on how to change the name servers. The primary and secondary name servers should be set to the following addresses:

Primary Name Server: NS553.HOSTGATOR.COM
Secondary Name Server: NS554.HOSTGATOR.COM

You can also set up email accounts with your domain name such as john@johnadams.com. Easy to remember and easy to put on a business card!

The web site we provide is from a predesigned template. The set-up fee covers up to ten web pages. If you need more web pages or have any special requests, there may be a higher set up fee to compensate for the extra time we spend setting up your web site. Something like a photo gallery or slide show would require a higher set up fee. Also, if you want a web site for Microsoft Office training, there is no extra set-up charge for the class outline and description web pages because these pages are already set up in the design templates (so in this instance you would have far more than ten pages). To sum it up, as long as we don't have to change the structure of the predesign template, add more web pages, or add any special features to your web site, the set up fee will be $79. We will always let you know beforehand what the charges will be.

To set up your web site, all you have to do is send us your content. Your web site can also include a photo and your logo if you have one (if you don't have one, don't worry about!). It will take a little planning on your part, but you can use the content on our sample web sites to help you. You can also discuss your web site with me by email or on the phone.

Termination of membership terminates your web site. We do not return any files to you, so keep copies if you want to retain them. Your domain name belongs to you, even if we register it for you.
